Two-part documentary series Women Who Kill examines what drives women to murder.
Unlike many male murderers, female killers tend to know their victims, and Women Who Kill will investigate the reasons these women killed people they know and sometimes love.
The series includes footage from investigations, chronicles the trials, and reveals what happened to these women once they were behind bars.
The first episode featured Amber Hilberling, Ana Trujillo and Patricia Ignacio.
Amber Hilbering was 19-years-old and seven months pregnant when she was convicted of pushing her husband Josh, a 23-year-old US Air Force veteran, out of a 25th floor window. She has always maintained that she is innocent and was acting in self-defence.
Ana Trujilo was dubbed the 'Stiletto Killer' after she killed her boyfriend Stefan by hitting him in the head with her heel 25 times. Patricia Ignacio admitted bludgeoning her cousin to death with a rock.
The second episode, which screens Sunday 18 June at 9.30pm on TVNZ 1, focusses on Celeste Beard-Johnson who conspired with her lover Tracey to murder her millionaire husband. Celeste’s two daughters testified against their mother in trial, and even claimed she had sought a hitman to silence Tracey after the shooting. Dorice ‘Dee Dee’ Moore killed her business partner after he won the lottery. Both women deny their guilt.
