Two-part documentary series Women Who Kill examines what drives women to murder.
One third of the world’s female prison population is in America; thirty thousand of them are serving long sentences for murder. But unlike male murderers, female killers tend to know their victims.
So what pushes ordinary women to kill people they know and love? Just one in ten murders in America are committed by women. Most are as a result of marital abuse, mental illness or drug and alcohol abuse, but there’s a rare breed of murderess whose motivation is pure greed… they make up less than 5% of cases and are known as Black Widow killers.
In this series we meet three women who are serving life sentences for murdering people they knew. Each has an extraordinary story.
