Set in the DC Universe where the outside world is a superhero battleground, this new workplace comedy tells the story of the average people who have no powers!
Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) is a young claims adjuster at RetCon Insurance Co. in Charm City, a region of the DC Universe filled with superheroes and villains, but also a population of day-to-day bystanders without powers.
While Charm City may have the Global Guardians (a group of international superheroes) to protect it from extra-terrestrial annihilation - who will protect us from them?
Although she can't fly or shoot lasers from her eyes, Emily makes a difference in people's lives by helping them with their insurance needs. That's her act of heroism. But her job is complicated by new iron-fisted boss Del Heller (Alan Tudyk), the middle-aged son of the CEO who's after the one thing his money couldn't buy - respect. Working alongside Emily is her cubicle neighbour/sidekick Teddy (Danny Pudi) and Del's frustrated, hero-worshipping assistant, Jackie (Christina Kirk).
As Emily rises out of relative obscurity to become an office hero, she'll have to battle her hard-hearted boss along the way before her fortunes change. Sure, it's a superhero world and we're just living in it, but this comedy set in the DC Universe is out to prove that you don't need to have powers to be powerful!
Powerless is streaming on TVNZ OnDemand from February 3.
