In TVNZ 1’s new series Posh Hotels: Upstairs and Down, BAFTA-nominated actor Nigel Havers (Chariots of Fire, Don’t Wait Up) and former Coronation Street actress Sally Lindsay explore four of Britain and Ireland’s most iconic and uber-luxurious hotels.
They're looking at them from two very different perspectives - upstairs and down. One of them checks in as a VIP guest, with plans to revel in all the five-star luxury they can, while the other will step into the shoes of the employees who work day and night to deliver the hotels’ world-class standards.
Across the series, Sally and Nigel check in to The Berkeley in London (the go-to hotel for stylish A-listers, with a prime location near Harrods), Ireland’s Ballyfin (previously voted as the world’s best hotel), The Langham London (where the ultra-rich have access to a private butler and personal pianist) and Bovey Castle in Dartmoor National Park (world renowned for its country pursuits).
From laundry routines, and the cleaning of dining rooms and kitchens, to porters and maintenance, the series reveals all the secrets of Britain and Ireland’s poshest hotels – through the eyes of two charming tour guides.
Watch on TVNZ 1, from Friday 6th December, 7.30pm.
