Highway Cops is back with ten new episodes for TVNZ 1!
New Zealand’s highways - 11,000 kilometres of some of the most spectacular and unforgiving roads on the planet.
Over 1,000 dedicated road safety staff are tasked with keeping our highways and byways safe.
It’s a job that brings its own perils… and rewards.
Once again, Highway Cops works with road policing teams from Canterbury, the central North Island, the southern South Island, and the Tasman region, following our favourite officers and meeting some new ones. We witness driving that is shocking and terrifying, but also share some laughs with the drivers journeying across beautiful New Zealand.
In the centre of the North Island, near Pahiatua, a cattle truck flips on a bridge plunging livestock into the river and trapping a steer beneath the wreckage. Officers and locals rally to rescue the distressed animals.
What happens at a crossroad when the driver cutting across your path just doesn’t stop? A young woman in Levin finds out the hard way.
Amidst the beauty of Central Otago and Southland we find tourists who need to focus more on the road and less on the stunning scenery, including a visiting Grand Prix champion who thinks the state highways are his personal racetrack.
Drunken brawlers, seals, odometer tampering, and bikers who think the road-code doesn’t apply to them; the police in the Tasman region can deal with anything that comes their way.
Canterbury brings us blinding dust-clouds and boy racers writing off their rotaries in a staggering crash in Timaru.
Highway Cops follows the efforts of our highway patrol officers as they strive to educate and protect everyone on New Zealand’s roads.
Don’t miss an all new season of Highway Cops, starting Monday 11th June, 8.00pm on TVNZ 1.
