35 Serial Killers the World Wants to Forget is about those whose lives have been touched in some way by someone who took the lives of other human beings. The series will investigate through these people, who may have had long term friendships or just encountered a serial killer in their daily lives. The forgotten voices of these minor characters, partnered with experts in criminology, will reveal why the crimes happened and what effect this has had on those who may have only briefly known a murderer.
The series will use the recollections of witnesses and experts to frame a story that begins with how they met a killer and the circumstances that made this occur. A re-enactment of one of the crimes will allow the viewer to get a sense of what happened and when. It will profile the serial killer and lead up to the background to the crimes. Experts will be interviewed about the serial killer as we learn what is known about them and what are the commonalities or unique factors when compared to other serial killers.
This is different to every other series on the topic. Here, the serial killers are the side story. The real story is their lasting legacy, a legacy that can deeply affect those who are a part of each story but can also mean a change for the better for society at large. The stories will be contemporary, starting only from post war to today.
Stream from Monday 2nd July.
